Senior Resident Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Resident Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews construction processes and engineering layouts;
- Reviews daily inspection reports and other project documentation;
- Reviews project activities with client and contractor’s field supervision resolving disputes and other daily issues;
- Oversees materials testing activities;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Plans, reviews and assigns work of subordinate field or construction field office personnel;
- Meeting with prospective clients to learn about future CM pursuit opportunities;
- Attends and may lead construction meetings with client and contractors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering-related field (e.g. Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, etc.);
- Professional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Civil Engineer in the State of California;
- A demonstrated ability to read and completely understand contract documents;
- Valid and current California drivers license;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Inspection Certifications (e.g. NICET, ACI, etc.);
- A working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials (e.g. Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Caltrans);
- At least 5 years working as a Resident Engineer on Caltrans Highway improvement projects of similar size and complexity;
- Caltrans and California Self-Help County experience;
- Experience in Caltrans District 6, 7 and/or 8;
- A working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials (e.g. Caltrans);
- Roadway/highway widening construction inspection experience;
- Roadway widening construction inspection experience;
- A minimum of 15 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or related roles (or equivalent working knowledge/experience);
- Light Rail and Heavy Rail experience.
