Assistant Resident Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Assistant Resident Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- ensure construction work is performed in accordance with contract drawings, specifications, and applicable code and standards;
- ensure construction work is performed in a safe and on schedule;
- schedule and conduct site inspections as required, attend progress meetings and final inspections and document meeting minutes;
- perform constructability reviews for future contracts, provide meaningful comments on drawings and specifications by specified dates;
- complete daily narratives, daily labor reports for T&M work and controlled inspection reports accurately;
- Knowledge and Familiarity with contract documents;
- Coordinating required tests to ensure work quality;
- Ensuring the contractor complies with all contract requirements;
- Keeping complete, accurate, and concise records of the work and quantities;
- Keeping the resident engineer informed of work progress and problems;
- Acting professionally at all times.
Requirements:
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license is required;
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university;
- Current California PE License highly desired;
- Experience in one or more areas of transportation, water, waste water or facility;
- Knowledge of Caltrans’ standard plans and specifications, construction manual, and LAPM;
- Minimum of 3+ years experience as a Senior Inspector;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
