CAD Designer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a CAD Designer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the conceptualization, design, and manufacture of large scale industrial machinery;
- Create 3D models of components and machines using sound judgment necessary to ensure proper fit and function of the designs;
- Creation and revisions to basic/intermediate drawing elements such as surfaces, corridors, utility alignments, etc;
- Update older drawings and technical documentation;
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned;
- Coordinates submittals for clients, governmental agencies, permitting agencies, etc. for reviews, approvals, and other milestones;
- Create BOM s based on the equipment and machinery needs;
- Will work closely with engineers, mid/senior-level designers, and other technical staff on assigned projects;
- Create detailed 3D solid models using Solidworks.
Requirements:
- Creating 3D parts and assemblies, 2D drawing as per the requirement;
- Required to work on other projects as assigned;
- Be able to analyze data and situations and come up with a creative solution;
- Proficient in CAD Software (Preferably Autodesk Inventor);
- Metal Forming and Finishing Process;
- Experience with acrylic, glazing, curtain wall systems, carpentry, and metal fabrication a plus;
- High level of mechanical aptitude;
- 3+ years of in design/drafting experience;
- Previous work creating and managing BIM files is preferred;
- Strong knowledge of material and manufacturing processes;
- Design parts using knowledge of Elkay and supplier manufacturing and assembly process;
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time;
- Relevant Associate Degree from accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Experience in one or more of the following areas are required: Plastic Part Design and Part Finishing;
- 5-7 years’ experience in manufacturing or product development.
