Our company is looking for a Plumbing Designer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a continued focus on keeping up with code requirements, design software, and other industry trends;
  • Knowledge of construction terminology;
  • Assists with the upkeep of project design and construction files;
  • Prepares electronic drawings with accuracy, neatness, and efficiency using industry software;
  • Performs collision changes in Navisworks as collisions are identified by the design team;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and discipline specific engineering software (i.e., TRACE, HASS, and SKM);
  • Identifies issues with designs and communicates issues with senior designers and engineers as they arise;
  • Assists in the development of design approaches and concepts on assigned projects with assistance from senior design staff;
  • Communicates with team members, project managers, other disciplines, and outside vendors to obtain necessary information on drawings;
  • Visually reviews plans for defects in design work;
  • Assists in the studies, load calculation, and selection of equipment to fit the project design;
  • Assists in the training and mentoring of team members;
  • Processes drawings received from the architect into models that can be used by the design team;
  • Assists in data collection and/or field verification;
  • Implements design requirements as related by design team.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of building materials, construction methods, building codes and regulations;
  • Ability to interact professionally and comfortably and build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships;
  • Demonstrated experience using Revit, CAD; Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Minimum of five years’ experience with Plumbing Design in consulting services or Plumbing Contracting;
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and other design related software;
  • Working knowledge of various Building, Plumbing, Fire, Energy Conservation, and Fuel Gas codes;
  • Communicates well verbally, in writing, and graphically, with other staff;
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices and techniques;
  • Excellent problem solving skills;
  • Strong personal ambition and work ethic;
  • Working knowledge of the NFPA, and other industry related standards;
  • Certified in Plumbing Design by American Society of Plumbing Engineers or ability to obtain is a plus;
  • Minimum 3 years of plumbing design experience in the consulting engineering industry;
  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Plumbing engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is a plus.
