Our company is looking for a Senior Piping Designer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting field site visits to gather data and to determine the project plan development;
  • Coordinates, supervises and instructs drafters in the completion of basic drafting portions of the projects;
  • Confirming specifications required to collect data and develop projects from initial stages to final projects;
  • Return to the office and input field data into the PDMS model;
  • Route pipe through existing facilities, and;
  • Shoot elevation with level & tripod;
  • Piping Designer with PDMS & field experience to;
  • Develops sketches to accompany concept documentation;
  • Assist with checks on design for consistency, safety, operability and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking;
  • Participate in project meetings as required;
  • Knowledge of standard computer drafting tools (i.e. REVIT and/or Autodesk Inventor);
  • Develop P3D specs and setup P3D Projects;
  • Reports project progression updates and/or issues to Lead Designers;
  • Resolves checked drawings; prove and understand comments made;
  • Create general arrangement drawings based on P&ID.

Requirements:

  • Previous work experience in a refinery or chemical plant is preferred;
  • Basic understanding of piping layouts and field drawings is required;
  • 3D Design capabilities preferred;
  • 8-10+ years of piping experience or drafting/design related course work is required BS degree reduces experience required by 1+ years;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Proficient in 3D modeling using REVIT or Inventor a plus;
  • High degree of competency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs;
  • Minimum of 10 years design drafting experience;
  • Ability to deliver best practice plant/piping design, with emphasis on cost-effective engineering;
  • Mentoring and Coaching ability;
  • Ability to perform field walks, which may include climbing ladders and walking/standing for extended periods of time;
  • Experience with design of Mining facilities and infrastructure;
  • Experience with BIM 360;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
