Director of Events Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Director of Events to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective marketing plans for generating catering revenues;
- Administer all phases of the event department, including but not limited to sales, planning, marketing, servicing and administrative procedures;
- Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures;
- Ability to put together creative and innovative menus based on skills of the kitchen;
- Oversee event committee development and management;
- Plan, organize, promote, and execute annual events and several consumer marketing events;
- Establish a working relationship with clients to consist of regularly scheduled team meetings and daily communication;
- Manage event set-up and tear down, including labor;
- Building out pre and post event process and leads support;
- Developing event ROI model and managing event programs budget;
- Coordinate tastings with hotels/caterers for the client;
- Conduct wrap-up meetings with clients;
- Manage on-stage technical elements including audio, lighting, staging, video & I-Mag when appropriate;
- Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Produce and “call the show” at events.
Requirements:
- Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset;
- Service oriented style with professional presentations skills;
- Positively contributes to client, department and overall agency team goals;
- Bachelors Degree and 5+ years of work experience;
- CMP, CSEP or other certification a plus;
- Fosters and builds relationships with vendors implementing quality control standards to ensure the timeline and budget parameters are met;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds;
- Provides consistent leadership and communication to their teams to ensure maximum performance and alignment on goals;
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and high professionalism;
- Must conduct business with the utmost honesty, integrity and sensitivity;
- Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision;
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- At least 3 years’ experience in a senior role in Event Sales/Planning environment.
