Printing Press Operator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Printing Press Operator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Use manual and/or electric pallet jack to transfer material to feeder section and to remove material from machine stacker/delivery section;
- Perform daily housekeeping activities and lead and perform full machine sanitation as scheduled;
- Perform equipment/machine operation inspections including examining the die for defects;
- Maintain production schedule to meet cost, quality and customer service goals;
- Complete documentation for quality, production, and machine performance;
- Maintain a clean and safe work area;
- Communicate effectively with off-going and on-coming shift personnel;
- Predetermine input materials needed and have them at line prior to changeover;
- Interpret and compare dockets and artwork to insure production will meet specifications;
- Follow all plant and departmental safety procedures and guidelines;
- Determine basic film alignment adjustments to the printing press and make such adjustments;
- Accurately complete necessary production and quality records;
- Assist in loading and removing plain and printed film;
- Check ink viscosities and adjust to meet visual specifications;
- Wash down inking stations with minimal downtime and waste.
Requirements:
- Good communication and organizational skills;
- Ability to communicate production and machine issues to supervisors and others in work area;
- Basic mathematics (i.e. counting and basic calculations to add, subtract, multiply, and divide). Ability to use and read a tape measure;
- Experience: 2 years’ experience operating and performing preventative and minor maintenance on a platen die cutter or equivalent equipment;
- Basic math skills;
- Working knowledge with UV inks and coatings a plus;
- Minimum 5 -7 years’ experience operating 40″ multi-unit Heidelberg presses; XL 105 or 106 experience preferred;
- Good color acuity;
- PC proficient; MSO;
- Good mathematical skills;
- Able to pass color perception test;
- Must pass drug screen;
- At least 2 years of previous press operation experienceMust pass employment credit check;
- Must pass background check;
- 18+ years old.
