Our company is looking for a Ophthalmic Scribe to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Be able to perform OCT, topography, and fundus photos;
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures such as injections, lasers, etc;
  • Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, and pachymetry;
  • Scribe in EMR to document patient visit and examination;
  • Schedule surgical cases;
  • Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the team lead and doctor;
  • Provide patients and/or family members with instructions for self-care and follow-up as directed by the physician;
  • Accurately and thoroughly document ophthalmic exams and procedures as they are being performed by the physician;
  • List all appropriate diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the physician;
  • Perform clerical tasks as needed by the physician including faxing, phone calls, referral letters;
  • Prepare exam rooms and assist during physician exam;
  • Document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician accurately and thoroughly.

Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Must be able to type or write legibly in dimly-lit setting;
  • Superior computer skills;
  • Must have at least 1 (one) year of recent Optical experience;
  • Must have a current CPR American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Card;
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Medical Terminology, Strong written and verbal communication;
  • Working knowledge of the eye anatomy, disease, and ocular medications;
  • COA/OSC Preferred;
  • Must have two (2) great references;
  • Must possess good computer and equipment skills;
  • Must be a quick and independent thinker;
  • Willingness to travel between locations;
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screen;
  • At least two years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician, with the willingness to learn;
  • Must have proof of current TB placed within the past 12 months.
