Pharmacy Technician II assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Pharmacy Technician II receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician II may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician II gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Works under moderate supervision. To be a Pharmacy Technician II typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.

Our company is looking for a Pharmacy Technician II to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately measuring and recording vital signs, I&O, height and weight, and ADL, ensuring patient safety is maintained at all times;
  • Performing routine patient admission and discharge duties and documenting in the patient record;
  • Informing the Registered Nurse of any changes in patient condition from previous baseline;
  • Performing bedside patient care by anticipating patient needs, and prioritizing care accordingly;
  • Performing Accu-Check blood glucose test as required;
  • Performing chemotherapy or biohazardous drug mixing under the direct supervision of a pharmacist after successful certification;
  • Delivering medication to and from nursing floors;
  • Assists the pharmacist in advanced tasks associated with patient care;
  • Ensuring that quality pharmacy service is delivered to all patients on a 24-hour basis;
  • Preparing anesthesia drug trays, emergency drug trays, and floor stock medication for patient care areas.

Requirements:

  • Assist in training and orientation of pharmacy technicians, interns and pharmacists and be responsible for other duties as assigned;
  • Follow organizational and departmental policy and procedures;
  • Maintain inventory control of pharmaceuticals;
  • Registered with the NJBOP;
  • Interact with professional staff and public on a daily basis;
  • PTCB certified or must obtain within 90 days of employment;
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
