The Certified Pharmacy Technician collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Being a Certified Pharmacy Technician may prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. Receives and stocks incoming supplies. In addition, Certified Pharmacy Technician may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Being a Certified Pharmacy Technician possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Work daily with the Pharmacist in Charge to ensure the right medications are put in the right packets;
  • Inventories cycle counts of each medication to maintain inventory;
  • Sorts orders by store location and places in totes for shipping;
  • Monitors prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals;
  • Perform other tasks assigned while working in a fast paced environment;
  • Counts or pours pharmaceuticals;

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of basic math;
  • Proficient keyboard skills;
  • Effective communication skills and phone etiquette;
  • Possess and maintain national pharmacy technician certification;
  • National Pharmacy Certification Required;
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information;
  • To maintain tools to help scrutinize transactions for pharmaceutical services, including pharmacy-prepared doses and floor stock medications;
  • Follows aseptic techniques and infection control of sterile products;
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills;
  • Ability to recognize and identify patient medications;
  • Experience navigating and troubleshooting the internet;
