Diesel Mechanic Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications;
- Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices;
- Perform mechanical and general appearance reconditioning of equipment for “trade-ins” and prepare new equipment for delivery;
- Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units;
- Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order;
- Follows all shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules;
- Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards;
- Perform daily maintenance on company equipment;
- Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs;
- Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems;
- Analyzing diagnostic test results;
- Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist;
- Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles;
- Running diagnostic tests on vehicles;
- Checking vehicle lighting systems.
Requirements:
- Vocational/Technical or certification preferred;
- Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions required;
- Proficiency in the use of shop tools required;
- Specialized training in the repair and replacement of vehicle components preferred;
- Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems;
- Must have a valid Driver’s License;
- Oilfield equipment is a plus;
- 1-2 years of Diesel Mechanical Experience;
- High School or 2 yr associate, vocational or technical degree in mechanical aptitude;
- Applicants may be subject to a background check and drug screening;
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 150 pounds;
- Aptitude for mathematics and science;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Good organization skills;
- Good interpersonal skills.
