QC Chemist Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a QC Chemist to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Support for the execution of method validations, qualifications and transfers;
- Maintenance of effective laboratory systems to ensure integrity of all laboratory results;
- Participation in laboratory improvement projects and troubleshooting of analytical methods in collaboration with teams as appropriate;
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments, including viscometers, pH meters and conductivity meters. Hands-on HPLC experience, ChemStation a plus;
- Identify and troubleshoot problems with instrumentation and analytical preparations;
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as well as all safety regulations and company procedures;
- Maintain laboratory operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes to RA-QA department;
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with internal procedures and regulations;
- Perform instrument calibration such as HPLC, UPLC, GC, Dissolution apparatus, UV, IR, pH, Viscometer etc;
- Analyze samples using appropriate instrumentation such as HPLC, UPLC, GC, Dissolution apparatus, UV, IR, pH, Viscometer etc;
- Follow all SOPs, Safety Guidelines and good housekeeping practices to ensure compliance with cGMP and Housekeeping requirements;
- Instrumentation : Experience with HPLC, GC and FTIR and associated software. General maintenance and repair;
- Performs routine maintenance actives in the laboratory and participates in the qualification and periodic calibration of equipment;
- Councils other staff when unsafe practices are observed and makes recommendation to improve laboratory practices in this area;
- Preparing accurate and complete records of the work performed.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated technical expertise in laboratory instruments, i.e. HPLC, UPLC, GC, UV, Karl Fisher;
- Experience with Empower or related lab software preferred;
- Experience in instrument calibration i.e. HPLC, UPLC, GC, Dissolution apparatus, UV, IR preferred;
- Minimum B.S. Degree in Science Field Chemistry Degree Preferred;
- Prior experience in a pharmaceutical (cGMP) laboratory setting is required;
- 1 or more years of experience in an analytical laboratory in pharmaceutical or related field of analytical chemistry;
- Basic understanding of cGMPs and compendia procedures where applicable (i.e., USP, NF, BP, etc.) required;
- Calibrate and operate instrumentation including titration equipment, spectrophotometer and density meter;
- Microsoft Office (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT);
- QC analytical methods for both GC (Gas Chromatography) and HPLC (Liquid Chromatography);
- Effective communicate skills verbal, written and excellent listening skills;
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or B.S. in scientific field that includes laboratory experience;
- 1+ years of chemistry experience in analytical, organic and/or inorganic laboratory (GLP) techniques;
- Ability to analyze and interpret data from experiments and instruments.
