Application Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Application Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Hire and manage a team of Applications Scientist who will develop and provide workflow solutions for both new and existing NGS customers;
- Manage team budget, including travel and expense reporting, as well as operational cost of the Applications lab;
- Travel (up to 25% of the time) to work in the field with Sales to attend customer meetings and scientific conferences;
- Provide expert technical knowledge to Marketing for promotional collateral;
- Ability to lead cross-functional and diverse team structures, via a matrixed leadership approach or direct reporting relationship;
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, resolve issues quickly, and remediate software as needed;
- 5+ years of experience with application support or development;
- Outstanding organizational and effective time management skills required;
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with internal partners required;
- Understand BIW customer business needs and requirements and bring those requirements to life as web and/or mobile applications;
- Ability to develop and establish positive working relationships across the organization;
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex information and present to senior executives in IT and business line;
- 5+ years experience in Banking / Financial Services experience required;
- Experience in scoping and participating in large, complex cross-functional projects;
- Superior problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills required.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in developing and empowering employees to achieve success;
- Extensive hands-on experience with nucleic acid extraction, NGS sample preparation, and sequencing technologies is required;
- Strategic thinking mindset and experience in developing project roadmaps;
- Experience in managing a team of scientist minimally 3+ years is required;
- Driven, self-motivated individual that takes pride in your work, ownership of your projects, and is accountable for the success of applications;
- Expertise with SQL queries to aid in validation and troubleshooting;
- Familiarity with procedural and object-oriented development languages, such as Java and PL/SQL;
- AWS Experience a plus;
- Minimum 5 years business and technical project management experience;
- Comfortable both writing test plans and testing applications;
- Strong communication and multi-tasking skills;
- Working knowledge of micro-service architecture concepts;
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related field preferred.
