Our company is looking for a Director of Nursing (DON) to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to respond to facility emergencies via telephone or in person, depending on the situation;
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this job, with or without accommodation;
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with required state licensure; BSN preferred;
  • Review and follow-up on documentation for clinical compliance;
  • Evaluate performance/skills/job knowledge of nursing staff;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Takes corrective action in response to quality of service issues;
  • Provide 24-hour accountability for the Nursing Department in directing and coordinating all activities of nursing services;
  • Investigate any complaints and concerns as indicated;
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate departmental staff (management staff only);
  • Develop nursing standards, policies and procedures within guidelines of the Nursing Practice for Nebraska;
  • May regularly be required to stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, or stretch, for prolonged periods of time;
  • Develop nursing standards, policies and procedures within guidelines of the Nursing Practice for Texas;
  • Develop and oversee the quality improvement program;
  • Maintain a listing of the Resident Roster and Acuity Levels within the department.

Requirements:

  • Licensed, registered nurse (MUST);
  • Experience in nursing in a long-term care setting is preferred;
  • Exposure to gerontology is desirable;
  • Management/supervisory experience is necessary;
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Director of Nursing in a long term care environment;
  • 3+ years of Management experience;
  • Valid Nebraska (or compact state) RN license;
  • 2 years’ experience within Psychiatric and Medical/Surgical settings;
  • Ability to work with physicians and other healthcare professionals;
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer;
  • 1+ years’ experience with facility regulations (local to federal levels), accreditation and compliance requirements (MUST);
  • 2+ years’ experience as ADON in long term care if above not met (MUST);
  • Licensed, registered nurse – RN (MUST);
  • 2+ years’ experience building census (MUST);
  • Demonstrate success in staff supervision and team management.
