Mechanical Engineer II Job Description

Mechanical Engineer II designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. Conducts product testing and creates models and prototypes. Being a Mechanical Engineer II may be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Additionally, Mechanical Engineer II requires a bachelor’s degree of Mechanical Engineering. Typically reports to supervisor or manager. The Mechanical Engineer II gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. To be a Mechanical Engineer II typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience.

Our company is looking for a Mechanical Engineer II to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Support root cause analysis on failures;
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization;
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional, reliability and quality requirements;
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services;
  • Produce product documentation that sufficiently identifies product dimensional and performance requirements;
  • Ability to work independently, regular reporting of progress and status;
  • Direct, coordinate, or fabricate prototype product sample builds;
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments;
  • Develop, purchase, fabricate and build prototypes to retire key development risks;
  • Responsible for technical activity and completion of assigned task on time and budget;
  • Prototype machining;
  • Evaluate and summarize engineering information for marketing product presentations;
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to focus efforts, overcome obstacles and complete key objectives;
  • BSME and 3+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 1+ years of relevant experience;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements:

  • Able to apply engineering principles and techniques to solve a variety of problems;
  • Fluency in technologies and application domain;
  • Able and willing to produce complete, accurate, readable mechanical drawings per industry standards;
  • Machine shop experience is a plus;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance;
  • Exceptional hands-on mechanical ability and inclination required;
  • Experience with CAD software package. Solidworks and PDMWorks preferred;
  • Experience with FEA package. ANSYS Structural and Icepak preferred;
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
