Senior Bioinformatician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Bioinformatician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining documentation of procedures and process configurations;
- Develop, innovate and validate NGS algorithms, analytical solutions, and modules of bioinformatics pipelines for clinical NGS tests;
- Make recommendations to improve automation as well as design and deployment of interfaces and applications for improved NGS processing and workflows;
- Adheres to detailed work plans and timelines. Provides timely status reports;
- Partners with the computing and bioinformatics team to test and validate new analytical tools and processes;
- Ensures compliance with CLIA/CAP requirements and adheres to HIPAA regulations for transactions, security and confidentiality;
- Implement DIY pipelines and software in the cloud computing environment.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience with analysis of NGS data is required (targeted sequencing, WES/WGS, RNASeq etc);
- Experience with cloud computing is preferred;
- Experience in a CAP and/or CLIA laboratory is preferred;
- Experience in Python, and demonstrated experience in other programming/scripting languages: R, Bash;
- Experience with open source bioinformatics and genome analysis tools.
