Our company is looking for a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Panel design and analysis, read alignment, targeted sequencing, mapping, annotation, and variant calling;
  • Communicate results with people in and out of the field;
  • Develop novel pipelines for analysis;
  • Create a plan and lead a team of bioinformaticians;
  • Noblis company asset representing the firm through publications, presentations, and professional membership;
  • Perform data analyses or mining of internal and publicly available big data sets;
  • Perform bioinformatics analyses of data produced by our droplet digital based technologies;
  • Principal Investigator developing and executing internally- and externally-funded bioscience research;
  • Develop machine learning and/or computational algorithms for bioinformatics;
  • Collaborate with the software team to build R&D and clinical pipelines;
  • Solutions Architect contributing to capture and execution of key Advanced Research programs in the defense, homeland security, and intelligence space;
  • Subject Matter Expert providing technical leadership to pursuits and programs across the Noblis enterprise;
  • Technical execution and expertise of the IARPA FELIX program;
  • Participate in designing and conducting Verification and Validation studies;
  • Present data to management to aid in decision making on new assays and products.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate technical results to a non-technical audience;
  • Experience in the development of scientific software;
  • Fluency at least 2 of the following: R, Perl, Python, Java, C/C++/C#
  • Adept at working in interdisciplinary scientific teams;
  • Experience in high-content data visualization/analysis (e.g. network analysis);
  • Working knowledge of genomics, molecular biology, PCR, and sequencing technologies;
  • Publications in related domains;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in bioinformatics, statistics, computer science or mathematics with at least 5 years industry experience;
  • Version Control with Git;
  • Solid understanding of the foundations of statistical analysis and machine learning;
  • 20 years experience in managing science performer work at DARPA, IARPA, NIH, DTRA, DoD, or BARDA;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • PhD in a life sciences and/or bioinformatics domain;
  • Experience with non-invasive prenatal testing methods and data desirable but not essential;
  • Informatics expertise in synthetic biology, microbial genomics, pan-genome analysis, and shotgun fragment assembly.
