Our company is looking for a Summer Camp Counselor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead your team of up to 20 campers throughout the week to art, science and outdoor rotations;
  • Provide leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual campers;
  • Set, work toward, and achieve measurable professional development goals;
  • Assist with daily set-up and cleanup of camp and assist Instructors with lesson preparation;
  • Communicate with parents during pick-up/drop-off;
  • Participate in daily pre-camp meetings, sharing updates with camp staff as necessary;
  • Attend staff outings to take a break and enjoy time with coworkers outside of camp;
  • Commitment to at least 3 days of training leading up to the first week of camp; Dates TBD but likely Saturdays before camp begins;
  • Plan and execute the activities in coordination with the program staff and supervisors;
  • Be sensitive to the individual needs of each camper within your group;
  • Be a versatile and flexible member of the staff;
  • Help campers to share what they have learned and experienced with other campers;
  • Be responsible for the health, safety, and supervision of the campers residing in your group;
  • Participate in clean-up at the end of each week;
  • Serve as a Meal MC.

Requirements:

  • You must pass a NY State run background check;
  • Up to date Physical and TB test documentation will be required before starting;
  • Demonstrates practical problem solving skills in a variety of situations;
  • Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, participants, parents and caregivers;
  • Being CPR, First Aid and AED certified is a plus;
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with participants, families and caregivers, both verbally and non-verbally;
  • Being DOE or DOH fingerprinted is a plus;
  • Have strong communication skills; enjoy collaboration and teamwork; be extremely flexible, energetic and fun;
  • Comfort spending time outdoors with campers in the summer season;
  • Ability to spend long periods standing and moving about;

  • Have knowledge of team-building and positive behavior management techniques;
