Our company is looking for a Assistant Camp Director to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure parents and staff receive schedules, menus, and reminders in a timely and organized manner;
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises programs and activities for the Day Camp program with the Recreation Programmer and Recreation Director;
  • Attend all required meetings, trainings, and in-services brought forth by the Recreation Programmer, and Parks & Recreation Director;
  • Plan daily activities utilizing available resources and materials, and ensuring staff has clear instructions;
  • Schedule and plan staff trainings and regular staff meetings;
  • Address behavior, safety and health issues with parents in a respectful and professional manner, regarding camp attendees;
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday with some weekend trainings required; Must work all day schedule: 6:15 am 7:00 pm;
  • Performs all other duties as duly assigned by the Parks & Recreation Director, and Recreation Programmer;
  • Collect and maintain camper, staff and field trip records.

Requirements:

  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience is required;
  • A minimum of two (2) year professional experience in childcare and/or youth recreation programs is required;
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older and have graduated from high school or obtained a GED equivalent;
  • Knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used at the Day Camps;
  • Knowledge of child development, what to expect of children in different situations, and group management techniques;
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of paid staff and volunteers;
  • Ability to remain calm and act resourcefully in an emergency and in stressful situations;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Judgement and decision-making skills;
  • Skill in monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
