The Extruder Operator I reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery. Sets up and operates an extrusion machine in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements. Being an Extruder Operator I documents work performed as required. Adjusts and cleans machines. In addition, Extruder Operator I may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. Being an Extruder Operator I possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.

Our company is looking for a Extruder Operator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all job functions with the highest degree of safety and promptly report any unsafe conditions;
- Maintain all printing equipment and materials to ensure print is clear and legible. Inform supervisor of any materials needed;
- Team-work required during set-up and start-up to minimize downtime;
- Operators will alternate operating line and working at the take-up;
- Complete in-process Quality checksheets on each reel of finished cable;
- Properly complete a reel tag for each reel of finished core and attach tag to each reel;
- Perform daily housekeeping functions as outlined on the housekeeping list;
- Perform cleaning procedures on all tooling after use to ensure tooling is readily available for use;
- Maintain an adequate supply of take-up reels to ensure continuous operation of line;
- Set-up Jacket Line as outlined in the Operations Manual and QAI Manual;
- Ensure proper print is applied to Jacket and verify print before starting;
- Coordinate production runs with supervisor to ensure orders are completed on time;
- Perform basic math functions to determine proper tooling.

- Prior hands-on extrusion experience;
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time on a concrete floor. Constant walking required at times;
- Color perception required;
- Ability to use basic hand tools easily and repeatedly;
- Ability to exert force to extreme limits when moving pay-off reels and take-up reels;
- Ability to read and interpret process instructions from POS and Operations and QAI Manuals;
- Good physical condition;
- Ability to perform basic math functions;
- Ability to work in a team environment and perform functions needed to maintain efficient operations of equipment.
