Mechanical Inspector Job Description

Mechanical inspectors examine the installation of HVACR systems and equipment to ensure that they are installed and function properly. They also may inspect commercial kitchen equipment, gas-fired appliances, and boilers. Mechanical inspectors should not be confused with quality control inspectors, who inspect goods at manufacturing plants.

Our company is looking for a Mechanical Inspector to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing incoming inspection of mechanical and electrical components utilizing drawings and established criterial;
  • Assist in in-process and final inspection of mechanical/electrical assemblies, and other duties as assigned;
  • Inspecting and logging shelf life material and chemicals, and affixing expiration date labels as required;
  • Recording inspection results and producing reports, as required, in the computerized network system;
  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition;
  • Perform audits/surveillances as required by management;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Reviewing of Certified Material test Reports and verifying conformance to purchase order requirements;
  • Adherence to safety procedures/guidelines at all times; maintain safety precautions at all times;
  • Record time on proper forms;
  • Capable of assisting production in the set-up of material and/or components for receipt inspection as required.

Requirements:

  • Work within an established QMS environment to the standards of AS9100 and follow department and company procedures and policies;
  • Able to use basic measuring tools (i.e.: calipers, micrometers, scales (rulers) and additional measuring tools);
  • Basic knowledge of a computer (i.e.: Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook and the internet);
  • Ability to work independent with minimal supervision and utilize time efficiently;
  • Able to communicate and work well with co-workers;
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status;
  • Final inspection fo finished products;
  • Must be able to interpret work orders, inspection manuals and blue prints to determine inspection and test procedures;
  • Understanding of GDT (Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing) required;
  • Critical thinking skills;
  • Confers with vendors and others regarding inspection results, recommends corrective procedures;
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Inspects materials, products and work in progress for conformance to specification, and adjusts process or assembly equipment to meet standards;
  • Proficiency with standard testing tools, calipers and depth gauge;
  • Inspect and move WIP from contractor to contractor, inspect hardware.
