PBX Operator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a PBX Operator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Process paperwork as directed during off peak periods;
- Accepts all messages for in house, expected arrival and function guests and ensures their efficient and timely distribution;
- Report telephone related problems to Front Office Manager;
- Uses private branch exchange (PBX) switchboard to connect interoffice and house calls;
- Places welcome calls to guests;
- Keeps record of requests placed by guests and ensures requests are completed;
- Utilizes PBX and front office computer system;
- Inputs wake up calls;
- Relied upon to coordinate emergency communications to the fire and emergency response units;
- Answers, screens, and routes outside and in-house calls, in an efficient manner, maintaining Service Standards;
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, along with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment;
- Initiate the positive guest experience with the hotel;
- Understand all hotel emergency procedures and coordinate communications during fire, health and elevator emergencies;
- Ability to exercise sound logic and judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources;
- Develop general hotel operational background to provide information to guests.
Requirements:
- Ability to learn and operate the Nortel 2250 PBX Console;
- Trained to operate Nortel 2250 PBX Console; or other business PBX Console. Basic knowledge of PBX operations;
- Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing;
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, along with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with a team;
- Ability to occasionally work under pressure in stressful situations;
- Basic knowledge of PBX operations;
- Three to six months hospital PBX, or other business PBX experience or telephone company;
- Must read, write, speak and communicate proficiently in American English;
- Ability to exercise sound logic and judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources.
