Supplier Quality Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Will have the opportunity to identify an area of improvement within the organization and hold an event to solve the problem;
- Responsible for supporting quality system, product, or technical process audits;
- Will be assigned multiple suppliers to manage quality activity and will have multiple product lines;
- Daily management of all supplier quality related issues with cross-functional team alignment;
- On-site supplier visits and quality audits to ensure compliance;
- Audit vendor progress as needed;
- All other duties as assigned by manager. Qualifications/Requirements;
- Facilitate Supplier’s RCCA investigations;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheet development and analysis;
- Drive projects that improve quality metrics: FPY (first pass yield), first year warranty spend, first year PPM;
- Improve supplier quality performance for assigned suppliers via Quality Plan implementation;
- Support the Quality Review Board Passport process;
- Assure Corrective and Preventive Action plans are developed and executed at assigned suppliers in compliance with the CAPA process;
- Results in improved manufacturing/supplier quality;
- Value engineering.
Requirements:
- 3+ years prior experience working with overseas vendors;
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to assess issues and determine root cause;
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher from four-year college or university in Engineering or related field;
- 3-5 years’ experience as a supplier quality engineer;
- Ability to understand and implement Production Part Approval Process (PPAP);
- College degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering;
- US Citizenship required due to government contracts;
- Results focused work ethic to resolve issues in a timely manner;
- High energy, dynamic individual who strives for continuous improvement;
- Ability to travel as needed;
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Chinese;
- Experience working with electronics to include printed circuit boards and embedded systems;
- A strong desire to succeed and pursue continued growth and developmental opportunities;
- Bachelor’s degree.
