Production Supervisor – 2nd Shift Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Production Supervisor – 2nd Shift to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform backup production supervisor functions on an alternating weekend rotation and cover vacations;
- Responsible for training and developing new supervisors;
- Update bill of materials;
- Interpret union contract on a frequent basis;
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of production/shipping requirements/staffing needs;
- Responsible for department payroll transactions and corrections;
- Trains direct reports on operating procedures, quality standards, environmental, health and safety procedures and company policies;
- Work with cross function teams to make continuous improvement to eliminate waste;
- Maintain daily shift handover meetings with employees to keep all personnel informed of critical issues;
- Actively pursue process and equipment changes to improve modifications to machines or equipment to improve production, quality and reduce cost;
- Work closely with Assistant Shift Leader to enhance their job skills;
- Coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely fashion;
- Work closely with other shift Supervisors to ensure production shift changes are effective using communication tools;
- Responsible for coordinating, planning & movement of employees for meeting production & quality requirements for optimal results internal & external;
- Maintains communication and coaching to employees on a daily basis to ensure they have.
Requirements:
- Obtain a DOT medical certification;
- Ability and willingness to work an offshift position – 2nd shift;
- Be at least 21 years of age;
- Have an active driver’s license;
- Provide leadership and training to production and technical personnel;
- 5-10 years prior processing and/or technical training in plastics a plus;
- Computer literate – Must be able to develop, analyze and present data developed from the use of the computer;
- Has a positive attitde (Consistent, honest, level-headed professional);
- Detail oriented;
- BA/BS strongly preferred;
- Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or Equivalent;
- Associates/Technical Degree of 5+ years experience in metal fabrication;
- Preferred – High Competency with Process Improvement;
- High school education;
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
