Development Director with Executive Director Pathway

Position Overview We are seeking a strategic, collaborative, and relationship-driven leader that is either an executive leader with deep development expertise or a dedicated development expert ready to step into organizational leadership.

This leader will be responsible for translating our mission into actionable strategic growth, building deep roots within the Orange County community and beyond, and diversifying our revenue streams to ensure long-term operational sustainability.

About i-5 Freedom Network The i-5 Freedom Network is a small yet dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting human trafficking. We do this by providing Survivors of trafficking access to personal and professional development and growth opportunities on their path forward, by empowering and mobilizing city leaders to identify and disrupt the business of trafficking in their communities, and trafficking prevention through education and building youth resilience.

We are entering a pivotal growth phase and are seeking a visionary leader to help scale our operations, expand our community footprint, and secure sustainable funding to take our mission to the next level.

Organization: i-5 Freedom Network (i5freedomnetwork.Position Type: Fractional contract-to-hire

Fundraising & Relationship-Focused Development Drive Revenue Growth: Design and execute a sustainable development strategy to meet organizational financial goals over the next 12–18 months.

Grant & Campaign Management: Oversee grant writing pipelines, corporate sponsorship packages, and community fundraising campaigns.

Execute and adapt as necessary existing 3-year strategic plan and create a clear 12-to-18-month roadmap to scale the organization’s reach, program efficacy, and financial maturity.

Board Collaboration: Communicate closely with the Board of Directors to report on organizational health, strategic milestones, and financial governance.

Serve as spokesperson and advocate for i-5 Freedom Network as needed, speaking passionately and accurately on the realities of human trafficking and our initiatives to combat it.

Financial Stewardship: Manage the organization’s budget, cash flow, and financial forecasting with transparency and strict fiscal responsibility.

Ensure that all anti-trafficking training, awareness programs, and community resources align with our strategic goals and maintain high impact standards.

A solid history of successful nonprofit development, fundraising, or relationship-driven sales/account management.

Proven ability to look at the "big picture," establish clear benchmarks, and successfully guide an organization from its current state to its projected growth targets within a 12–18 month horizon.

Exceptional Communicator: Outstanding public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills; Location & Flexibility: Must reside within commuting distance of Orange County, with the ability to work in person in San Clemente, CA, for community meetings, donor connections, and team collaboration.

Success is measured on achieving results, not hours in the office.

Negotiable Six to 12 month contract to hire. Hybrid (remote flexibility combined with vital in-person requirements in South Orange County).

Compensation: $67,000 to $72,000 with tiered growth structure based on achieved revenue targets.
