Head of Engineering and Project Management

HDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Project Manager to join our Power Delivery team in St. This role involves managing substation projects across Missouri and Kansas, providing technical leadership on small‑to‑medium projects and overseeing larger, more complex projects.

Managing and leading substation projects throughout the entire project life cycle, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management.

Produce and coordinate several small‑to‑medium projects concurrently.

Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD Technicians, and administrative staff.

Leading the QA/QC process on projects per HDR's Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements with a commitment to delivering world class quality.

At times, being responsible for overseeing non‑engineering components of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, construction management, and other services.

Performing client management, project management, and/or technical support activities.

At times, supporting and engaging in broader business development activities with existing and target clients in the region.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering

A minimum 2 years project management experience

MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be a plus)

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, together with experience using project management tools

Strong understanding and application of project management concepts such as project life cycle, contract terms and risk, work breakdown structures, scope/schedule/budget, initiation, planning, financial management and controls (including earned value), internal/external communication, team management, change management, and project closeout.
