Head of Project Management (Remote)

WSP is seeking a Project Director to join our Transportation and Infrastructure team in Washington D.The Project Director is accountable for review and supports delivery of a portfolio of projects. They provide oversight, support and guidance to the Project Teams within their portfolio, including acting as an escalation point. They are project-focused and are responsible for developing strong, long‑lasting project delivery practices, and identifying and delivering quality work product to support winning repeat work.

Ensures the Project Team has the required levels of skill, knowledge and experience to deliver the projects.

Ensures that the work, budgeted costs and pricing associated with the project are defined, planned and understood.

Coach and guides Project Managers. Establishes necessary café style trainings (remote or in person) to bring new PMs up to speed on our delivery processes and procedures.

May manage client and main stakeholders' relationships.

Acts as a link between the Project Team and Senior Leadership, providing both strategic guidance to the Delivery Team and regular updates to the Leadership Team.

Acts as an escalation point for the Project Team and occasionally for the client.

Conducts regular and robust project performance reviews and project oversight of multiple projects and tracks project overall performance.

Oversees formal closure of the project.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Engineering or closely-related discipline (or demonstrated proven equivalent experience) (or equivalent experience).

5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in projects, finance, project controls, project management, project contracts and change management documents.

Proficient knowledge of project accounting principles, practices, and methods and their application to project work-related issues.

Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders and understand contract requirements, scope, and schedule.

Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

Competent analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management.

This is a professional role and as such work deadlines and work hours may extend beyond a typical workday.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
