Description:
The unit consists of 22 beds.
There are 30 staff members on the unit.
Day shift includes 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 PCAs, and 1 unit secretary.
Night shift has 4 RNs, 1-2 PCAs, and 0-2 sitters.
Patient ratios can be a maximum of 6:1.
The unit utilizes standard electronic medical records system.
Most sought-after skill set includes experience with neuro patients.
Preferred experience includes working with CVA, TIA, and AMS cases.
Candidates with neuro/neuro-surgery or orthopedic backgrounds are preferred.
A Med/Surg/Telemetry background is also acceptable.
Typical procedures performed on the unit include:
Care of medical/surgical patients.
Standard nursing skills such as IV insertions, urinary catheter insertion/maintenance, and central line maintenance.
Medication administration and communication with all care team members.
Documentation in electronic health records is essential.
Skills in Continuous Bladder Irrigation and NGT insertion/maintenance are beneficial.
The ideal candidate will be friendly, positive, patient-centered, and team-focused.
Floating to medical/surgical units may be required.
Dress code is scrubs.
