CNC Programmers- 2nd Shift

2nd Shift CNC Lathe MachinistThis role is for a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist on 2nd shift in a precision job shop environment. You will perform full set-ups on a variety of CNC lathes, troubleshoot machines, interpret complex blueprints, and consistently hold tight tolerances of +/- 0.0002 on stainless and exotic materials. The position involves working with advanced equipment, including twin-turret and dual-spindle lathes, and offers exposure to high-mix, low- to high-volume production runs.ResponsibilitiesPerform full CNC lathe set-ups in a job shop environment, including tooling, offsets, and verification of part dimensions.Troubleshoot CNC lathes and resolve machining issues to maintain quality and productivity.Read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements.Set up machines to consistently hold tight tolerances of +/- 0.0002 on a variety of materials.Machine parts from stainless steel, aluminum, Inconel, titanium, brass, and other exotic materials.Work with multiple CNC lathes, including models with dual spindle and twin turrets such as Puma and Doosan machines.Perform an average of one setup per shift, with flexibility to complete additional setups depending on job complexity and run length.Handle both short and long production runs, ranging from approximately 100 to 5,000 parts.Edit programs directly at the machine to optimize cycle times, improve quality, and accommodate engineering changes.Set up and operate CNC lathes, including those with multi-axis and live tooling capabilities.Work with very small parts, including components as small as a fingernail, while maintaining precision and quality standards.Understand tooling requirements, including pre-setting tools, to efficiently set up and operate machines in the department.Read and understand CNC programs and operational layouts to ensure correct machining processes.Collaborate with team members in a job shop environment to meet production schedules and customer requirements.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with shop standards and PPE requirements.Essential SkillsAt least 3 years of CNC lathe set-up experience in a production or job shop environment.Minimum 2 years of machining experience in a medical or aerospace environment holding tolerances of +/- 0.0002.Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC lathes, including experience with twin-turret machines.Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings.Ability to read and understand CNC programs and operational layouts.Strong troubleshooting skills for CNC machines and machining processes.Experience working with small, precision parts, including components as small as a fingernail.Understanding of tooling requirements to set up and operate machines, including pre-setting tools.Experience with Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems.Capability to work with stainless steel, aluminum, Inconel, titanium, brass, and other exotic materials.Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining tight tolerances and high quality standards.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a very clean, climate-controlled job shop with a strong team culture and emphasis on collaboration and cross-training. A new Director of Operations has fostered an environment where team members are encouraged to help one another and develop new skills across different machines and processes. The facility houses a range of advanced equipment, including approximately 10 Swiss machines (Tsugami and Citizen), 13 lathe machines (Lynx, CHNC, and Puma), and 9 mill machines (Haas VF4), providing exposure to diverse technologies. The dress code is casual, with closed-toe shoes required, no shorts allowed, and appropriate PPE provided and required to ensure safety.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Bloomington, MN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $83200.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
