Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 3x12 day shift position requiring a TX or compact RN license and prior med/surg nursing experience.
Details
Work on a 19-bed private-room medical surgical unit (3 South)
Care for a patient population ranging from young adults to geriatric patients
Unit prioritizes medical surgical level patients, including those with neurology or neurosurgical diagnoses
Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
Patient ratio of 1:6
Epic EMR used for charting
Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Requirements
Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
Current BLS certification required
NIHSS certification preferred
Minimum 2 years of med/surg nursing experience required
Prior travel nursing experience preferred
Epic charting experience preferred
Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and PICC line management
Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, oxygen administration, and suctioning
Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgical care
Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry
Additional Information
Provide medical surgical level care to a mixed population of medical, surgical, and neuro/neurosurgical patients
Utilize isolation precautions and PPE per unit protocols
Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible
Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
No travel pairs or groups accepted
No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
