Counsel, Law - Litigation

A growing and respected litigation firm is on the lookout for a Mid-Level Civil Litigation Counsel to join its dynamic team, specifically focusing on the representation and defense of public entities , including municipalities, government agencies, school districts, and public officials.

This position offers an incredible opportunity for a litigation associate eager to gain substantial courtroom experience, receive strong mentorship, and tackle complex civil matters that significantly impact the community.

Position Overview
The attorney will oversee a varied civil litigation caseload centered on public entity defense. This includes handling matters such as constitutional claims, civil rights litigation, tort liability, employment disputes, premises liability, and general governmental liability issues.

In this role, attorneys will take ownership of cases, collaborating closely with experienced litigators and public‑sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all stages of civil litigation from inception to resolution

Draft pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and dispositive motions

Conduct depositions, prepare witnesses, and perform legal research

Make court appearances for hearings, conferences, and trials

Deliver legal analysis and strategic advice to public entity clients

Work with partners and litigation teams to formulate case strategies

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school

Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction

3-7 years of civil litigation experience

Preferred experience representing public entities, municipalities, or government agencies

Background in civil rights defense, employment defense, or general liability litigation is a plus

Excellent writing, analytical, and advocacy skills

Ability to independently manage cases while also functioning effectively in a team environment

Compensation:

Full‑time position

Salary range: $165,000-$200,000 annually + performance bonuses (Factors affecting pay may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and qualifications of the successful candidate.)
