Intern Systems Engineer - Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems
Position Overview: Full‑time Intern Systems Engineer responsible for design, development, integration, and testing of new capabilities for several Department of Defense (DoD) products and technologies. Work involves models of real-world weapons, radars, and Command & Control systems, and the independent identification and resolution of system and software defects.

Location: Onsite at a Lockheed Martin facility that requires special access. Must be a US Citizen and obtain a government security clearance (Clearance Level: Secret).

Responsibilities

Participate in the design, development, integration, and testing of new DoD products and technologies.

Contribute to models of real-world weapons, radars, and Command & Control systems.

Independently identify and address system and software defects.

Apply sound systems and software engineering discipline and decompose complex problems to formulate solutions.

Basic Qualifications

Pursuing a BS Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent STEM field.

Basic knowledge of root cause analysis, problem‑solving skills, and statistical analysis.

Basic knowledge in scripting languages such as Python and/or MATLAB.

Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work in a collaborative and team‑based environment.

Desired Skills

Basic knowledge of Agile Development Process.

Basic knowledge of Static and Dynamic Systems.

Basic knowledge of Statistics, Monte Carlo Analysis, and distributed simulation techniques.

Basic knowledge of Data Science Principles.

Security Clearance
This position requires a government security clearance. The required clearance level is Secret. Applicants must be US Citizens.

Work Arrangement
Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full‑time - work will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules. Schedules range from a standard 40‑hour week over a five‑day work week to other condensed schedules. These condensed schedules provide additional time away from the office and are in addition to Paid Time Off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.

Compensation
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, or Washington DC is $44,491 - $78,769. For other states, the salary range reflects the candidate’s final work location.
