Locum Physician - Gastroenterology - Lakewood, CO

Start Date: 12/08/2025

Duration: Ongoing into 2026 (pending scheduling)

Shift: 24-hour call (7AM to 7AM)

Hours per Week: 5-7 days per month

Certifications/Licenses: Colorado State Medical License; Board Certified/Eligible in Gastroenterology

Experience: At least 2 years of GI experience; proficiency in ERCP preferred

Pay & Benefits

Pay Rate: To be discussed upon application

Additional Compensation:

Orientation: $262.50 (half the hourly/callback rate, after 8 hours)

On Call (Per 24-hour period): Up to $5,200

Holiday Call Rate (Per 24 hours): Up to $7,800

Callback (per hour of patient contact): Up to $525

Holiday Callback (per hour): Up to $787.50

What You'll Do

Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultations and procedures

Perform endoscopic procedures, including ERCP, EUS, and standard endoscopy

Evaluate and manage GI bleed and other GI-related problems

Collaborate with hospital staff in a Level 1 Trauma setting

Document patient care using EPIC EMR system

Participate in on-call rotations, including holiday coverage

What You Need

Required:

Colorado medical license or IMLC

Board eligible/certified in Gastroenterology

Proven experience with ERCP and EUS procedures

Ability to work independently in a high-acuity hospital environment

Preferred:

Prior experience in Level 1 Trauma centers

Experience working with pediatric trauma patients (note: GI does not admit pediatric patients; consult service only)

About the Assignment This assignment is at a busy hospital in Lakewood, Colorado, a Level 1 Trauma center with a high patient volume requiring skilled GI intervention. The provider will cover gaps in coverage due to staffing needs, with ongoing shifts into 2026, supporting adult and geriatric patient populations with a focus on advanced GI procedures.
