Head of Recruiting & HR

Spectrum Woodworking is seeking an experienced, hands‑on HR Manager to support our growing group of companies. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration , this position will own the day‑to‑day HR function, including recruiting, payroll administration, employee relations, benefits, safety administration, workers' compensation, and employment compliance.

Our team includes office professionals, project management, engineering, production/shop employees, and field personnel. Experience in construction, manufacturing, specialty contracting, or a similar environment is strongly preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage recruiting and hiring from job posting through onboarding

Serve as the primary day‑to‑day HR resource for employees and managers

Manage employee records, onboarding/offboarding, PTO, leaves, policies, and HR documentation

Support managers with performance management, coaching, corrective action, and terminations

Administer payroll across multiple company entities and coordinate employee benefits

Manage workers' compensation claims and return‑to‑work processes

Administer company safety programs, OSHA records, training documentation, and incident reporting

Maintain compliance with applicable Oregon, Washington, and federal employment requirements

Coordinate annual employee reviews and support employee development and retention initiatives

Track key HR metrics including recruiting, turnover, attendance, safety, and workforce trends

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

4-7+ years of HR/generalist experience with increasing responsibility

Hands‑on recruiting and payroll administration experience

Strong employee relations and performance management experience

Experience with workers' compensation and workplace safety administration

Working knowledge of state and federal employment requirements

Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills

Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and follow through

High level of professionalism and discretion with confidential information

HIGHLY PREFERRED

Construction, manufacturing, architectural millwork, specialty contracting, or skilled‑trades HR experience

Experience supporting both salaried and hourly employees

Oregon and Washington employment experience

Multi‑company payroll experience

Experience working around union employees

OSHA 10/30 or similar safety experience

Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field—or equivalent practical experience

On any given day, you may be recruiting for an important position, helping a manager navigate an employee issue, reviewing payroll, coordinating a workers' compensation claim, or making sure our safety and compliance documentation is in order.

Spectrum has grown significantly over the past several years, and this position will play an important role in building the people and systems needed for our next stage of growth.

Compensation: $70,000-$80,000 DOE

Schedule: Full‑time, primarily on‑site
