Head of Nonprofit Development

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Director of Development III position with the Annapolis Corps under the Potomac Division. POSITION SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Commanding Officer and the indirect supervision of the Divisional Development Director, the Director of Development creates and oversees the implementation of a strategic approach to increase fundraising results through major gifts, corporate donations, grant solicitation, direct mail, special events, community relations, volunteers, and in-kind resources. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and seven (7) years of experience in a comprehensive development program with progressively responsible experience and demonstrated success; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol, and organization structure.
Knowledge of foundation grant writing.
Knowledge of special events planning and management.
Proficiency in the use of Fund-raising software, Microsoft Office products to include Databases and Spreadsheets, E-mail, and Internet.
Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
Skill in setting priorities, developing a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information, and activities.
WORKING CONDITIONS Work may be performed in a normal office environment within a climate-controlled structure.
