Buyer/Planner

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and services needed to support production requirements. This position works closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure materials are available when needed, inventory levels are maintained, and customer requirements are met. The Buyer/Planner evaluates supplier performance, analyzes suppliers quotes, negotiates prices, monitors open orders, and resolves issues related to quality, delivery, and cost.

Shift/Hours 6:00 a.m. - Monday to Friday

Procures raw materials, equipment, tooling, parts, and supplies required to support production.

Communicates with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules.

Maintains inventory levels to support production requirements while minimizing excess inventory.

Monitors open purchase orders and follows up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.

Works with production, quality, inventory control, and suppliers to resolve material, delivery, and quality issues.

Evaluates supplier performance regarding quality, cost, and delivery.

Maintains accurate purchasing records and supplier information.

Assists with material planning activities and supports production schedules.

Prepares reports related to purchasing activity, inventory levels, and supplier performance.

Develops production schedules & executes Material Requirement Planning (MRP) to support customer demand.

High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

Minimum of 3 years of purchasing, planning, inventory control, or supply chain experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field.

APICS certification or related supply chain certification.

Experience with supplier development and inventory management.

Employees at our die casting facility can gain experience in multiple areas of manufacturing including aluminum and zinc die casting, CNC machining, automation, and quality control. We have over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space with the capacity and capability to service a diverse set of customers and industries. Kurt Die Casting features 20 CNC machining centers and 15 die casting machines ranging in size from 500 to 1,200 tons. Many of the castings we produce feature challenging designs that require secondary operations such as machining, finishing and assembly.
