Pharmacy Technician, Trainee (Falk Pharmacy)

Full Time Pharmacy Technician TraineeUPMC Community Pharmacies is looking for a Full Time Pharmacy Technician Trainee, to join their dedicated team at Falk Pharmacy!This position is part of the Outpatient Pharmacy Team in the Falk Medical Building. Falk Pharmacy is part of the UPMC Retail Pharmacy Network. We fill retail prescription orders for patients in the community and visiting for clinic appointments. This position will collaborate with various clinics and physician's office staff including nurses, prescribers, case managers, social workers, and pharmacists to remove any prescription barriers for patients, as well as preparing and mailing medications to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The right candidate is an independent and patient-focused worker.UPMC Falk Pharmacy is open between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This position will rotate weekly between 7:15am -3:45pm and 9:15am -5:45pm. Apply today to learn more!Responsibilities:Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting and stocking practices. Initial and date products as required.Assist in the preparation of the proper oral medications for the correct patient for administration at the appropriate time. Use proper technique in the preparation of medications.Participate in the distribution of medication including medication cassettes, emergency medication carts and the delivery of controlled substances per department policy and state and federal requirements.Retrieve medications that have been discontinued and return (and credits if necessary) them to the appropriate pharmacy area.Develop and maintain positive and productive service relationship during medication distribution process.Provide and received information (via telephone, person-to-person, or written) to hospital personnel, patients and visitors. Refer all drug information questions to Staff Pharmacists.Ensure that all medications in all areas have been safely and securely stored according to Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.Develop and maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked work environment.Practice appropriate hand hygiene both in the pharmacy and in the units.Use computer skills to process and maintain all patient information and records.Maintain all pertinent documentation as required.
