- *Referring employee shall receive a bonus of $250.00 for a referred candidate hired into an eligible regular position and $500.00 upon that new employee’s completion of 2080 service hours.

Conditions of Employment Certificate: Successful completion of 120 or 160‑hour POSt Basic Dispatcher Course and a satisfactory performance evaluation. Background: Must not have been convicted of a felony and must successfully pass an extensive background investigation including fingerprint, polygraph, and psychological evaluation. Shifts: Applicants must be available for all shifts; incumbents will be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, including mandatory overtime. Refusal of assigned shift may result in removal from the list or termination. Shift differential is available. Availability: This department is a 24/7 operation; the incumbent can expect to work rotating night, weekend, day, and graveyard shifts, as well as holidays. Sponsorship: San Bernardino County does not consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Must meet ALL of the following: Keyboarding Speed: 40 words per minute. Certification: California P.O.S.T. Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate. Experience: One year of emergency dispatching experience with a law enforcement agency. The ideal candidate will possess the following: 40‑hour Computer‑aided Dispatching System Training Course Certificate. Department of Justice certified CLETS course. Department of Justice certified DMV course. Emergency dispatching experience with a law enforcement agency within the past five (5) years. Examination There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on a review of the application and supplemental questionnaire. It is to your advantage to provide as much relevant and detailed work experience as possible.
