Human Resource Administrator

$32.21 - $38.64 per hour

Overview Stanford University is seeking a HR Support 2 to serve as the operational lead for specific HR processes and services. The role serves as the point of contact for HR policy and process questions, escalating to more senior HR team members as necessary. The candidate may serve as a team lead, assist with transactional improvement efforts, and audit and review the work of more junior HR team members. This position is 90% operational and 10% consultative. The Department of Neurosurgery also seeks a Human Resources Administrator 2 to provide administrative support under the direction of the Associate Director of Administration and Operations. The role supports department growth through timely recruiting, onboarding, and faculty and staff HR inquiries, collaborating with central HR business units and implementing employee engagement activities. Responsibilities Compensation and benefits: process basic and complex compensation and benefits-related transactions, ensuring adherence to university policies and guidelines; assist managers with compensation and benefits questions, escalating as needed. Disability and Leaves / Worker's Comp: answer routine questions, explain procedures to employees and managers, generate related correspondence, coordinate with specialists when appropriate. HRIS/People Analytics: support data entry and record retention; regularly report on HR metrics using the HCM system for compliance and audit; create customized reports as requested. Performance Management: assist in the communication of the annual performance appraisal process, review and track incoming appraisal forms, and address inquiries related to the program and technology. Talent Acquisition: support candidate experience including job postings, screening candidates, interview scheduling, collecting rater feedback, disposition of candidates, and assist with onboarding and exit processes. Transactions: support high-volume HR transactions using standard operating procedures and university guidelines for multiple types of HR transactions, including hiring, personnel changes, reclassifications and related activities. Advise on documentation requirements to meet university and legal requirements. Maintain personnel and human resources-related files. Team lead: oversee day-to-day work of other staff, including scheduling, assigning and prioritizing workloads, setting deadlines, reviewing work for quality and timeliness, onboarding new staff, and providing performance review input. Maintain consistency with and support Stanford HR policies, procedures and requirements and applicable local, state, and federal laws. Participate in and foster an inclusive workplace culture where all employees feel valued, respected and empowered. Education & Experience Associate Degree and 2 years of relevant human resources experience or a combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Behavioral competencies: Refer to competencies for HR Support. Technical competencies: Strong accuracy and attention to detail; proficiency with business applications, Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, etc.; ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion. Basic ELR experience preferred. Certifications & Licenses PHR (preferred) or SHRM‑CP Physical Requirements Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone. Occasionally write by hand; twist, bend, stoop, squat; reach; grasp lightly or forcefully; lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds; sort/file paperwork. Rarely kneel/crawl or operate foot or hand controls. University will provide reasonable accommodation to employees with disabilities as required by law. Pay and Benefits The expected pay range for this position is $32.21 to $38.64 per hour. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, qualifications, departmental budget, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
