The unit serves as a comprehensive overflow area. It is staffed by an in-house hospitalist team. Nurses will provide care to patients across all disciplines. Each shift offers exposure to various specialties. Diverse patient population including adults and geriatrics. Common diagnoses include chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and heart failure. Nurses will participate in interdisciplinary support. There will be opportunities to care for trauma-related injuries and post-operative patients. Skills required include management of dysrhythmias and wound care. Knowledge in telemetry and blood product administration is essential. Team collaborations with physical therapy and respiratory services are expected. Must be able to float to all care areas as needed.
