Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the Operating Room, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes throughout perioperative phases. Collaborates with surgical team members to coordinate patient care, equipment, and supplies.

Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures by coordinating equipment, supplies, and staff.
• Ensure patient safety by monitoring and managing patient care throughout the perioperative process.
• Prepare patients for surgery by performing anatomical positioning and assessing their readiness.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and operate all OR equipment safely and effectively.
• Handle and dispose of biohazardous materials following established safety protocols.
• Document all procedural details, including tissue temperatures and package integrity, accurately in the appropriate logs.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Associate Degree (A.S.) or higher in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Possess a current RN license in the state of practice.
• Have at least one year of full-time OR experience.
• Maintain BLS certification from an approved vendor; PALS certification preferred.
• Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) credential is preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency in aseptic techniques, equipment operation, and patient preparation.
