Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU Float position requiring 2 years of step-down/PCU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• PCU Float Pool position in a hospital setting
• May be required to float to another affiliated hospital location within short walking distance
• May float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Estimated patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, with solid step-down/PCU background
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a progressive care/step-down telemetry unit
• Responsibilities include IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and wound care
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and heparin protocols
• Experience with tracheostomy care and non-invasive airway management valued
• Pre/post neurosurgery and pre/post hemodialysis management experience relevant to patient population
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon signing contract; those outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed packet
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are not eligible for travel assignments at this health system
• First-time travelers may be considered with strong PCU/step-down experience, subject to manager review
