Positions The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is recruiting for Correctional Deputy and Deputy Sheriff candidates. Correctional Deputy I: $30.52 – $37.14 hourly ($63,486.36 – $77,247.77 annually) Correctional Deputy II: $38.00 – $44.50 hourly ($77,247.78 – $89,712.00 annually) Deputy Sheriff: $42.35 – $64.75 hourly ($88,084.95 – $134,686.79 annually) Eligibility & Qualifications Correctional Deputy: Must possess a valid California STC – Adult Corrections Officer Core Course Certification. Correctional Deputy – Lateral: Current correctional deputy or equivalent in a California adult facility, passed probationary period, and holds the required STC certification. Correctional Deputy – Pre‑Service: Holds the STC certification and is not currently employed by a law‑enforcement agency. Deputy Sheriff: Must possess a valid California POST certification or a POST waiver received from another state. Deputy Sheriff – Lateral: Current sworn peace officer for a California agency, passed probationary period, and holds a Basic POST certificate. Deputy Sheriff – Pre‑Service: Graduate of a California POST‑certified academy, holds active POST certification, and not currently a sworn peace officer. Deputy Sheriff – Out of State: Must obtain a basic academy certification from another state and apply for a POST waiver letter. POST (or equivalent) certifications from other states are not accepted. All candidates must submit a copy of their academy certification(s) as an attachment. Education & License High‑school graduation, California State Board of Education Certificate of Proficiency, or a satisfactory G.E.D. score. Valid California driver’s license. Legality for Employment Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
