Executive Director

The client is seeking an Executive Director to serve as a relational and strategic leader for a social justice leadership center. The role will guide the center’s vision, operationalize its purpose and approach to social justice leadership, and translate that vision into accessible, mission-driven programs and partnerships. The Executive Director will strengthen the center’s role within its host institution and deepen its impact in the broader community. Key responsibilities include building trust and cultivating meaningful relationships across students, faculty, staff, and community partners, and ensuring the center functions as a collaborative hub. The Executive Director will work to increase engagement by making the center’s physical and intellectual spaces welcoming, visible, and relevant to diverse audiences, including those new to social justice leadership work. This role also requires balancing internal institutional priorities with external community partnerships to position the center as both a campus resource and a driver of community-informed change. The Executive Director will provide operational leadership by overseeing staff, strengthening systems and processes, and ensuring effective program implementation and evaluation. The position emphasizes fostering an inclusive environment that invites participation across differences while centering the development of social justice leaders at all stages. The Executive Director is expected to bring clarity and cohesion to the center’s vision and purpose, translate values into a guiding framework, rebuild trust through transparency and accountability, and advance inclusion and belonging through a broad, “big tent” approach that welcomes diverse perspectives and experiences.
