This is a field-focused role working directly in mills to improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety. Equipment Production & Installation Provide on‑site support for refractory systems (EAF, BOF, ladles, tundish, furnaces) Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in high-temperature industrial environments Support installation, commissioning, dry‑outs, and repairs of refractory linings Evaluate wear, failures, and process conditions; recommend improvements Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and process diagrams Partner with plant operations, maintenance, and engineering teams Complete service reports and support root cause analysis (RCA) Follow all plant safety requirements (LOTO, confined space, PPE) Service Support of crew leaders reg. technical problems with our machines Organizing of spare parts, parameterization, installation and commissioning on site, if necessary Analysis of weak points and faults and the development of improvements in order to increase durability and availability Customer support at worldwide‑located customer or via Telephone, Email, remote control etc. Other Duties & Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Operational Excellence / Lean Processes: Actively participates in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving. Attend all OE training as it is deployed by the OE team. Suggestions – meet requirement per year. Gemba walk done daily Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Provide on‑site support for refractory systems (EAF, BOF, ladles, tundish, furnaces) Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in high-temperature industrial environments Support installation, commissioning, dry‑outs, and repairs of refractory linings Evaluate wear, failures, and process conditions; recommend improvements Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and process diagrams Partner with plant operations, maintenance, and engineering teams Complete service reports and support root cause analysis (RCA) Follow all plant safety requirements (LOTO, confined space, PPE) Qualifications: Associate degree or technical certification (or equivalent experience) 3+ years in steel, refractory, or heavy industrial field service Strong mechanical skills (hydraulics, rotating equipment, material handling) Electrical knowledge (motors, controls, drives, basic PLC troubleshooting) Ability to read technical drawings and schematics Strong problem‑solving and customer‑facing skills Willingness to travel and support outages/shutdowns Working Conditions: Steel mill and industrial sites (heat, dust, noise). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to withstand the physical pressure of the constant standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects. Must be able to handle a high level of stress. Full PPE required at all times. Physical Abilities: Ability and willingness to undertake business travels within North America. Valid Driver’s License required. Safety Equipment: Safety equipment required while performing the duties of this job include but not limited to an ANSI approved hardhat and safety glasses, safety shoes/boots with steel toe protection. Also may be required to wear goggles, cotton or high impact gloves, work vest, respirator, chemical/Neoprene Gloves, Chemical Apron, Hearing Protection, face mask and Fall Protection device. Safety Training: A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual or web based training as it applies to this particular position.
