Joining our team means building practical litigation skills while making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.Position OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Employment Law Associate to join our firms labor and employment team. The successful candidate will provide legal counsel and representation on a range of employment matters, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, restrictive covenants, employment contracts, and compliance counseling. This role focuses on client advising and litigation in the employment law space; experience with labor issues and wage-and-hour matters is a strong plus.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise employers and employees on federal and state employment law issues, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, and accommodations.Handle all phases of litigation: intake, investigation, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related documents such as severance agreements, separation agreements, employment contracts, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, and policies/handbooks.Conduct internal investigations into allegations of misconduct, discrimination, and harassment; prepare investigation reports and recommended remedial steps.Counsel clients on compliance with wage-and-hour, leave, and classification regulations; assist with audits and corrective action plans.Provide training and preventative counseling for clients on best practices, policy updates, and risk mitigation strategies.Manage a varied caseload, maintain client relationships, and communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and regulators.Conduct legal research, prepare memoranda, and stay current on evolving case law and statutory developments in employment and labor law.Collaborate with colleagues on complex matters and contribute to business development efforts, such as client pitches, proposals, and thought leadership.QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.2+ years employment law experience preferred; strong candidates with relevant experience will be considered.Proven experience advising clients on employment law matters and handling employment-related litigation in state and/or federal courts.Solid drafting and legal writing skills, including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and client advisories.Experience conducting workplace investigations and preparing findings and recommendations.Working knowledge of wage-and-hour laws (FLSA and state analogs) and labor law (including NLRB-related issues) is highly desirable.Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and client-management skills with a focus on practical, business-oriented solutions.Strong analytical and legal research skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.Self-starter with high ethical standards, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
