Surgical Physician Assistant - Full-Time Position

Position Overview

Clarity Wellness PA is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic healthcare team in New York, New York. In this full-time role, you will assess, diagnose, plan, and implement comprehensive medical care for our patients in collaboration with supervising physicians. You will utilize your licensure to deliver quality healthcare, which includes direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care.

Work Environment

As a Surgical Physician Assistant, you will work onsite at our surgical center, providing care in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. The center is designed to facilitate high-quality patient care through the use of innovative technology and methodologies. Your work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, extending to 5:00 PM each day, amounting to a total of 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed physical examinations, assess patient histories, and review medical records to inform clinical decision-making.
• Order, perform, and interpret various diagnostic tests, including lab work and imaging studies, to develop an accurate diagnosis.
• Diagnose and manage a wide range of health conditions, making treatment decisions that align with family medicine principles.
• Collaborate with physicians to create and implement individualized treatment plans for both chronic and acute medical conditions.
• Prescribe medications, monitor patient efficacy, and adjust treatment as required to achieve optimal health outcomes.
• Document all patient interactions in our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to ensure accurate and organized patient communication.
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions, preventive healthcare practices, and lifestyle modifications.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care, particularly during transitions from hospital to home or other settings.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in medical treatments and policies through ongoing professional development and training.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on providing care to a diverse patient population. As a Surgical Physician Assistant, you will engage with patients across various age groups and backgrounds, addressing an array of surgical and non-surgical health issues. This role allows you to directly impact the well-being of individuals, enhancing their recovery process and improving health outcomes.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Active state licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York.
• A demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and a strong ethical foundation.
• Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with patients and healthcare teams.
• A thorough understanding of healthcare regulations and laws governing patient care practices.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant in a surgical or family medicine practice.
• Specialization in family medicine or extensive clinical experience in a primary care setting preferred.
• Experience in a surgical center environment, assisting in pre-operative and post-operative care.

Compensation and Benefits

The Surgical Physician Assistant position offers a competitive salary range of USD 140,000 to 160,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
