The Machine Builder assembles mechanical components, parts, and subassemblies used in the production of industrial packaging equipment. This role works from blueprints and assembly instructions to build high-quality machinery, troubleshoot assembly issues, and support overall production goals. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment on a first-shift schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble mechanical components, parts, and subassemblies used in the production of industrial packaging equipment.
• Review blueprints, assembly instructions, and parts lists to determine required materials, tools, and sequence of operations for each project.
• Position, align, and fit components using measuring devices, templates, and hand tools to ensure accurate assembly.
• Inspect assemblies for proper fit, function, and quality, ensuring all equipment meets specifications and standards.
• Troubleshoot assembly issues and collaborate with supervisors or team members to resolve production challenges promptly.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company policies and safety standards.
• Support team production goals by assisting with related manufacturing tasks as needed.
• Use hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and mechanical fixtures to complete assembly work.
• Follow work instructions and documentation accurately to ensure consistent build quality and traceability.

Essential Skills:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical assembly, machining, or related hands-on work.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proven experience using hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure and work with precise measurements, including fractions.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Ability to work in various positions, including under machinery when required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Experience with mechanical assembly, machine building, and machine assembly.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting during assembly.
• Familiarity with safety compliance and safe work practices in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in industrial equipment manufacturing or machine assembly.
• Training or hands-on experience in machining, welding, fabrication, or mechanical maintenance.
• Familiarity with sheet metal tools, measuring instruments, and fabrication equipment.
• Experience working with electrical control components and precision hand tools.
• Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics in an assembly or machine-building environment.
• Electrical assembly and electrical wiring experience, including reading schematics.
• Soldering experience for electrical or mechanical connections.
• Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting experience on mechanical or electromechanical equipment.
• Experience working in a team-oriented production environment with continuous improvement initiatives.
• BG in manufacturing, industrial production, or mechanical fabrication.
• Experience with process improvement and supporting quality control activities.
• Comfort working with wiring, electrical assembly, and mechanical systems in combination.

Work Environment:

This role is based in a manufacturing facility located in Kent, OH, operating on a first shift schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The position follows a contract-to-hire structure and involves a single-step interview process. You will work in a hands-on, shop-floor environment assembling industrial packaging equipment using mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components. Daily work includes frequent use of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and fabrication equipment, as well as working around machinery and under equipment when necessary. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, with adherence to established safety standards and company policies. The role requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 30 pounds, and working in various body positions to complete assembly tasks. Standard industrial attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mogadore, OH.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
