Senior Staff Accountant

A Senior Staff Accountant at a privately held franchisor manages complex multi-entity accounting, royalty revenue tracking, and financial reporting. Key duties include monthly close processes, franchise fee reconciliations, and audit preparation. This role ensures accurate financial insights for executive leadership and franchise operations. Position Overview Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant Company Type: Privately Held Franchisor Department: Finance and Accounting Reports To: Manager of Accounting Key Responsibilities Royalty Accounting: Process and reconcile weekly or monthly royalty fees and advertising fund contributions from franchise locations. Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance for multiple corporate and operational entities. Financial Reporting: Assist in creating accurate balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports under GAAP. Compliance & Audits: Support annual external audits by pulling schedules, preparing variance analyses, and documenting internal controls. Intercompany Accounts: Manage intercompany billing, tracking, and eliminations across franchise and corporate entities. Process Improvement: Identify workflow gaps in the franchise management software and general ledger systems to streamline operations. Qualifications & Skills Experience: 4 to 6 years of progressive accounting experience; multi-unit or franchise industry background is preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certifications: CPA or CPA candidate is strongly preferred. Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and experience with major ERP systems or franchise accounting tools.
