Environmental Scientist II

Responsibilities Collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, land use, etc. Assimilate and manage data Prepare constraints mapping Lead field investigations for natural resources, such as wetlands, protected species habitat, trees, etc. Define the level of environmental analysis required Conduct environmental impact assessments Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance Work independently on medium-size projects, or assist more‑senior scientists on larger projects Perform other related duties as needed Preferred Qualifications Ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, research, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills USFWS Permit for various species Experience leading field teams and conducting natural resource surveys Experience preparing proposals, schedules, and cost estimates, as well managing execution of environmental tasks in support of public and private projects. Experience in regulatory permit coordination and agency consultation (ex. USACE, USFWS) Experience with City of Austin environmental permitting Experience in erosion and sedimentation control plans and inspections Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel) Strong environmental writing and communication skills Strong conceptual, organizational, problem‑solving and research abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must Primary Location: United States‑Texas‑Austin Other Locations: United States‑Texas‑Round Rock Industry: Water Schedule: Full‑time Employee Status: Regular Business Class: Environmental Sci and Planning Job Posting: Jun 1, 2026 At HDR, we are committed to the principles of employment equity.
